Antara Mitra is a small town girl who got fame by the song "Saree Ke Fall Sa" from the Bollywood movie "R. Rajkumar" featured with Shahid Kapoor and Sonakshi Sinha. She contested for Indian Idol 2 in the year 2006 ( Singing reality show on Sony TV ) and progressed till the gala round and managed to grab many hearts by her melodious voice. Now she is a very popular vocalist and playback singer in Bollywood.

Antara hails from a very small town called Maslandpur situated near Kolkata ( West Bengal, India ) and was addicted of music fever since childhood. Her father used to inspire her every time which motivated her to become passionate about it and to practice music a lot. Finally, at the age of 18 years, she participated as a contestant on a TV show like Junoon and reached till finals. In her early days, she thought to build a career in fields of medicine. But it was her father who used to run a music school had motivated her to become a professional singer. She always used to sit, follow and practice with those children who come to learn music from her father. When she eliminated in finals of Indian Idol, music director Anu Malik offered her a proposal to sing for his forthcoming film but she rejected the same at that time. Anu Malik moved to her native place and convinced her eventually for a vocal-performance-for-film soundtrack career.
