Apart from a degree in area of science, she chose to work with Fame Cinemas at Andheri ( Mumbai ) as a guest relation executive where she used to manage professional bookings relevant to media and film industry. While working over here, she  participated in Femina Miss India 2008 pageant and without any prior exposure and experience, she managed to win the title. When she represented India at Miss Universe 2008 pageant held at the Diamond Bay Resort in Nha Trang, Vietnam on 13 July 2008, she got to come up as Ist runner up. followed by the second runner-up in Evening Gown Contest and fourth position in National Costume Round.
